Alright, let’s talk about these basketball jersey tattoos, you know, the ones them youngsters are gettin’ nowadays. I seen some pictures, and let me tell ya, some are right purdy, and some, well, they look like a chicken scratched ’em on!
First off, what in the tarnation is a basketball jersey tattoo anyway? Well, it’s like this, you take that shirt them fellas wear when they’re runnin’ around throwin’ that orange ball, and you get it drawed right onto your skin! Yep, with ink and needles and all that fancy stuff. Crazy, ain’t it?
Why folks gettin’ these things?
- Some folks, they love them basketball players. Like, they think them fellas are somethin’ special, you know? So, they get their names and numbers put on their arms or legs or backs, wherever they got the space I reckon. I heard tell of a fella named LeBron somethin’ or other, and another one, Allen somethin’. Sounds like a bunch of made-up names to me, but them youngsters, they go crazy for ’em.
- Then you got them team lovers. They wear the hats, the shirts, the whole shebang. And now they gettin’ them tattoos too. Like, if they love the Lakers, they get that purple and gold stuff all over ’em. Or the Celtics, with their green. It’s like wearin’ your team spirit, but you can’t take it off, not unless you wanna peel your skin off, and nobody wants that, I tell ya.
- And then there’s the ones who just love the game itself. They ain’t got a favorite player or team, they just like the bouncing and the running and the throwing. So they get a basketball tattooed, or maybe a hoop, or somethin’ like that. To show they love the sport, I guess. Seems like a lot of trouble to me, but hey, to each their own, right?
Now, what kinda tattoos are they gettin’?
Well, like I said, some get the jerseys. The whole shirt, with the name and number and all. That’s a big one, takes up a whole arm or leg sometimes. Then you got the smaller ones, just the number, or the player’s name, or the team logo. Some folks get fancy, addin’ flames or stars or whatever else tickles their fancy.
And let me tell ya, some of these tattoos are real pretty. Lots of colors, and the lines are all smooth and neat. But then you see some that look like a kindergartener drawed ’em. All crooked and blurry, like the tattoo artist was drunk or somethin’. You gotta be careful who you let stick a needle in you, I tell ya! Gotta find a good one, someone who knows what they’re doin’. Otherwise, you gonna end up with a mess on your skin.
I seen some pictures on that… whatchamacallit… the Pinter- somethin’ or other. Yeah, Pinterest! Them youngsters showed me. Lots of ideas on there, for sure. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just plain weird. But it gives you an idea of what folks are gettin’. And let me tell ya, they’re gettin’ all sorts of things.
So, is it a good idea to get a basketball jersey tattoo?
Well, I reckon that depends on you. If you love basketball that much, and you ain’t gonna change your mind later, then maybe it’s okay. But you gotta remember, that thing’s gonna be on you forever. Unless you get it laser-ed off or somethin’, and that costs a pretty penny, I hear. So you gotta be sure, real sure, before you go under that needle. It ain’t like changin’ your shirt, you know?
And think about it, what if that player you love so much turns out to be a bad egg? Or what if your team moves to another city, or changes their name? Then you’re stuck with a tattoo that don’t mean nothin’ anymore. Or worse, it means somethin’ you don’t want it to mean. So think long and hard, that’s all I’m sayin’. It’s your skin, your choice. But don’t come cryin’ to me when you regret it later!
And lastly, find yourself a good tattoo fella. Don’t go to some back alley joint, you hear? You want someone clean and professional, someone who knows what they’re doing. You wouldn’t let just anyone fix your car, would ya? Well, this is your body we’re talkin’ about, it’s even more important than a car!
