Rock That Retro Look: Vancouver Grizzlies Baseball Cap is Back!

Alright, let’s talk about this Vancouver Grizzlies baseball cap, you know, the one with the bear on it. I saw some young folks wearin’ them the other day, and it got me thinkin’. Not that I know much about basketball or nothin’, but a hat’s a hat, right?

Rock That Retro Look: Vancouver Grizzlies Baseball Cap is Back!

First off, where do you even get one of these things? Seems like everyone’s sellin’ them online now. You got your Lids, your Nordstrom, even the NBA store itself. They got all sorts – snapbacks, fitted ones, beanies even. I tell ya, back in my day, you had one hat, and you wore it till it fell apart. Now, you got a hat for every day of the week, seems like.

And the colors! Some are black and turquoise, some are red and teal. I saw one that was just plain black with the bear logo. Fancy, I guess. This one fella, he had this hat, a black and turquoise one, it said “Hardwood Classics Claw Ball” on it. Sounded tough, like somethin’ you’d wear to a fight, not a basketball game. But hey, what do I know?

  • Where to buy: Lids, Nordstrom, NBA store, and some other places online. They even got free shippin’ sometimes, can you believe it?
  • Types of hats: Snapbacks, fitted hats, beanies – all with that bear on them.
  • Colors: Black and turquoise, red and teal, plain black… they got ‘em all.

They say these hats are “throwback” hats, from when the Grizzlies were in Vancouver. Apparently, they moved to Memphis a while back. So, these hats are like a reminder of the old days, I suppose. Like those old photos you keep in a box under the bed. Reminds you of somethin’, but it ain’t around no more. It’s kind of sad, in a way.

Now, some of these hats are made by New Era, some by Adidas, and some by a fella named Mitchell & Ness. I ain’t never heard of these folks, but I guess they make good hats. People seem to like ‘em, anyway. They got these hats with all sorts of teams on ‘em too, not just the Grizzlies. NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS… all them letters. Too many for an old lady like me to keep track of.

I even saw one hat that was on sale for, get this, $27.99! That’s a lot of money for a hat, I tell ya. Back in my day, you could buy a whole dress for that much. But I guess that’s just how things are now. Everything’s more expensive. And these hats, they ain’t just for keepin’ the sun outta your eyes, they’re for showin’ off, I reckon. Like sayin’, “Hey, look at me, I got this fancy hat with a bear on it!”

This one website, it said they had “vintage-inspired” hats. That just means they look old, right? Like they been sittin’ in a closet for years. But they ain’t really old, they just made to look that way. It’s all a bit confusing, if you ask me. But I guess folks like that kinda thing. Reminds ‘em of the good ol’ days, maybe. Even though most of them weren’t even born then.

And these hats, they are part of a 30th-season celebration for the Grizzlies. Thirty years! That’s a long time. Makes me feel old, just thinkin’ about it. But I guess it’s good they’re rememberin’ where they came from. Even if it’s just with a hat.

So, there you have it. That’s all I know about these Vancouver Grizzlies baseball caps. They’re hats, they got a bear on them, and people seem to like ‘em. And they cost a pretty penny, too. But hey, if it makes you happy, go ahead and wear it. Just don’t expect me to understand it all.

In short, these hats are more than just something to keep the sun off your head. They’re a way to show you remember the old days, even if you weren’t around for them. They are a way to connect to a team and a city, even if that team isn’t there anymore. And I guess, that’s something special.
