Alright, so, you wanna know ’bout this JJ Barnes and basketball, huh? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. It ain’t gonna be fancy, mind you, just plain talk, like you’re sittin’ here with me on the porch, sippin’ sweet tea.
First off, this JJ Barnes, she’s a young gal, plays basketball real good. Folks say she’s a guard, means she runs around a lot, dribbles the ball, and tries to score. I ain’t never been much for runnin’ myself, but these youngsters, they got energy to spare, I tell ya. She’s not some big ol’ giant neither, they say she’s about 5 foot 8. That ain’t tall, but it don’t matter much if you’re quick and smart, and seems like she is.
Where’s she from, you ask? Well, they say she’s from Wisconsin, place called Racine. I ain’t never been there, but I hear it’s cold in the winter. Colder than a well-digger’s backside in January, that’s for sure. She went to a school called The Prairie School, and now, she’s playin’ for Marquette University. That’s a big deal, you know, playin’ for a university team.
Now, Marquette, they call themselves the Golden Eagles. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They got a women’s basketball team, and JJ Barnes, she’s one of their new players. They signed her and another girl, some name like Kam Herring. Seems like they’re hopin’ these two will help the team win some games.
- They say JJ scored a lot of points in high school, like, 20 points a game or somethin’. That’s a whole heap of points, I reckon. Means she’s good at gettin’ that ball in the hoop.
- And she don’t just score, they say she gets rebounds too. Rebounds are when you grab the ball after somebody misses a shot. It’s important, ’cause it gives your team another chance to score. She gets about seven of them a game, so she’s tough, not afraid to mix it up with the other girls.
- She plays for this club team too, somethin’ called Wisconsin Playground Elite. Sounds like a fancy name for a bunch of kids playin’ basketball. But I guess that’s how they do things these days.
This JJ Barnes, she’s part of the class of 2025. That means she’ll be graduating college in 2025, if she stays on track. College is important, ya know. Gotta get that education, even if you’re good at basketball. Can’t play ball forever, gotta have somethin’ to fall back on.
Now, don’t go thinkin’ I know everything about basketball. I just hear things, ya know? People talk, and I listen. And this JJ Barnes, she seems like a good player, a hard worker. Folks are excited to see what she can do at Marquette. She’s a guard, so she’ll be handlin’ the ball a lot, makin’ passes, takin’ shots. It’s a tough job, but I bet she’s up for it.
They got a coach there at Marquette, too. Name’s Cara Consuegra. She’s been coachin’ for a while, knows her stuff, I reckon. It’s important to have a good coach, someone who can teach you the game and help you get better. And seems like JJ Barnes has got a good coach in Cara.
