Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this Sentry Classic basketball thingy, the 2023 one, you know? The one with all them youngsters runnin’ around and throwin’ a ball. I ain’t no expert, but I can tell ya what I heard and seen.
Now, they got this Sentry Classic, been goin’ on for a while, seems like. Up in Stevens Point, that’s where they do it. Big ol’ fieldhouse, they call it. Quandt somethin’ or other. Sounds fancy, but it’s just a place to play ball, far as I can tell.
This year, 2023, they had a bunch of games. Kids from all over, I reckon. Amherst, Almond-Bancroft, Pacelli, Westfield… Never heard of half them places, but they got some kids who can sure run fast. Don’t know if they’re any good at farmin’, but they can sure throw that ball.
They had some games on December 28th, that’s what I heard. Amherst played Almond-Bancroft in the afternoon, then Pacelli and Westfield played later. Don’t ask me who won, I can’t keep track of all them names and scores. Too much for my old brain, you know?
- Game 1: Amherst vs. Almond-Bancroft
- Game 2: Pacelli vs. Westfield
Then they got that whole 52nd Annual Sentry Classic thing. That’s a lotta years, ain’t it? Been doin’ this longer than I’ve been makin’ apple pies, and that’s sayin’ somethin’. That one went on for a few days, Thursday to Saturday, they say. Boys tournaments, they call ’em. Just a bunch of boys runnin’ and jumpin’, tryin’ to get that ball in the hoop.
They also got somethin’ called a WBY Shootout. Don’t ask me what that means. Probably just another one of them basketball games. Seems like they got a lot of games these days. Back in my day, we just had one game, and that was enough. But these kids, they gotta have all these fancy tournaments and shootouts.
I tell ya, watchin’ them kids run around makes me tired. They got so much energy. I just sit there and watch, tryin’ to figure out what’s goin’ on. Sometimes I cheer, sometimes I just shake my head. It’s all a bit much for an old lady like me.
But, I gotta say, it’s kinda fun watchin’ them. They get all excited, and the crowd gets all excited. It’s somethin’ to do, I guess. Breaks up the day. And sometimes, just sometimes, you see a kid who’s really somethin’ special. A kid who can really shoot that ball, or pass it, or whatever they do. And that’s kinda nice to see.
So, that’s the Sentry Classic for ya. A whole bunch of basketball games, played by a whole bunch of kids. Some of ’em are good, some of ’em are not so good. But they’re all out there tryin’, and that’s what matters, I reckon. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about basketball made me hungry.
Anyways, they got these games, and folks go watch ’em. They cheer and holler. It’s a whole thing. I don’t get it all, but it seems to make folks happy. And that’s good enough for me.
They had this schedule, you know? Telling you when the games were and who was playin’. But I ain’t got it in front of me. Just know there was a bunch of ’em. And they played hard, them kids. Ran up and down that court like their pants were on fire.
So, if you’re lookin’ for some basketball, this Sentry Classic seems like the place to be. Lots of games, lots of excitement. Just bring your earplugs, ’cause them folks can get loud.
