The 4A boys, they was all out there, playin’ like they were tryin’ to make their mamas proud. The tournament started early in the morning, and them boys, they didn’t waste no time gettin’ to work. Matches started at 9 a.m. sharp, and the brackets, well, they was all laid out nice and neat like they had been planned for months ahead.
From the looks of it, them players, they was playin’ their hearts out. Every point counted. And the way them brackets was set up, it was like watchin’ a big ol’ race to the finish line. There were singles matches and doubles matches, and every time someone won, the crowd would cheer like it was the best thing they had ever seen. I tell ya, it was a sight.
Now, don’t you forget about the winners. It was Nathan Gold, a young man from somewhere who won the 1st singles title. I heard he’s got a mean serve, and it sure showed in that match. He won the whole darn thing, and folks couldn’t stop talkin’ about him. Even them big city folks from over yonder was sayin’ he’s got some real talent. And then there was the Kent Denver Sun Devils – they took home the 4A Boys Team Tennis State Championship with a 4-0 sweep. I reckon them boys must’ve practiced hard for that. Ain’t no easy feat beatin’ a team like that!
That right there tells you just how competitive this whole thing was. Them boys didn’t just show up to play; they showed up to win. And the way they kept goin’ match after match, it was like they was all determined to make a name for themselves. The coaches, they probably had a lot to do with it too. Gotta hand it to them, for keepin’ them boys focused, no matter how tired they got.
And what about them doubles matches, huh? Cherry Creek, I heard, swept the doubles matches clean, takin’ home the 5A boys tennis team championship again for the fourth year in a row. Now, that’s a team you don’t mess with. They played like they was in perfect sync, like they was all born with tennis rackets in their hands. I ain’t never seen such teamwork before. It’s like they had eyes in the back of their heads, always knowin’ where the ball was gonna go next.
